Körvonalaiban nem találunk oly megszakadásokat, bevágódásokat, milyenek p. o. Európát jellemzik, melyek a tengert a szárazföld belsejébe eresztik, s ekkép a partok fejlődését megnyújtják, a föld és tenger érintkezéseit szaporítják s a közlekedést könnyítik.
