The Second Csoma de Körös Symposium was held in Csopak {Hungary), on September 19th—25th, 1979. The participants of the Symposium put forward a large number of new, important results, which will considerably contribute to international research in the field of Tibetan studies, Inner Asian philology and Buddhism. After the sessions the National Permanent Committee of the Symposium reported that it had turned to the Editorial Board of Acta Orientalia Hungarica to facilitate a short-term publication of the valuable material. The Editorial Board readily agreed to the proposal and undertook the publication. The participants of the Symposium submitted their articles in time, and we are pleased to present the material of the Symposium in our journal. It is hoped that this rich collection of articles will effectively foster the aims of the Csoma de Körös Symposium. The Editorial Board
