Már akkor sem volt jóslás. Felismerés volt, szívmelengető... Néhány héttel ezelőtt - bár elég homályos felhők úszkálnak mostanában felettünk - O maga mégis ezt üzente: „Változó és egyre fényesebb időket élünk, bízunk a jövendő égi erejében, hadra fogjuk saját energiáinkat, magunk fényes sorsáén és a szeretet megismerő erejével egymásért megyünk hadba Mihály arkangyal katonájaként. Célunk a gondolkodásból az azonnali helyes cselekvés, a közép-európai szabad, faji gyűlölettől mentes, szakrális szemlélet kialakítása. Inspired by international trends represented by Frank Lloyd Wright or Rudolf Steiner and deeply rooted in Hungarian folk and historical tradition, Makovecz’s oeuvre of more than two hundred built projects re-establishing the anthropomorphic character of the dwelling placechurches, community houses, schools, living-houses, swimming pools and different public buildings world wide, conserving the natural environment, exposing regional features, utilizing traditional building materials, construction models and organic forms—represents an unparalleled, harmonic conjunction between modernity and tradition. Beside managing his MAKONA Architectural Studio, Makovecz, one of the most prominent proponents of organicity, regularly lectures at the International Academy of Architects and several universities world wide. Among other prominent prizes he has been awarded the Gold Medal of the French Academy of Architecture, elected honorary fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects and the American Institute of Architects, spiritual mentor of the Károly Kós Association involving about twenty Hungarian architect-designer groups and its journal, and chairman of the Hungarian Academy of Arts. Important statements from a study by Imre Makovecz entitled Things Forgotten and Things to Come have been quoted to introduce his views on the conflicts between possible and impossible, intrinsic to his buildings—the philosophy of an artist whose main ambition is to reconstruct the connection between Above and Below, Heaven and Earth.
