MUSIC "THE DARE-DEVIL", an opera by one of our foremost contemporary composers, Parashkev Hadjiev /b. 1912/, is Bulgaria's most per­formed operatic work on stages at home and abroad. The new, third production at the Sofia National Opera House marks the 30th anni­versary of its creation and is the work of director Svetozar Donev, conductor Boris Hinchev; set de­sign and costumes: Boyana and Radostin Chomakov and two equally talented casts. A GALA CONCERT in the capital marked the 90th anniversary of ASSEN NAIDENOV, and his 65 year-long career as conductor. He is one of the founders of our na­tional operatic art, widely accepted today as the doyen of Bulgarian conductors. "THE DUKE'S COOK" is a fairy­tale opera by composer Alexander Tekeliev which opened on the stage of the State Music Theatre in Sofia. The opera is based on a popular tale by Wilhelm Hauff and mainly addresses a younger audi­ence. Director of the production is Georgi Purvanov, conductor Mihail Popov, artists Evgeniya Raeva and Valya Radoeva, chor­eographer Margarita Arnaoudova. THE "GOUSLA" CHOIR, one of the most popular and best loved Bulgarian male choirs, celebrated the 65th anniversary of its origin with a widely successful gala con­cert in the capital. THEATRE "DER HOFMEISTER" by Jacob Lenz in Bertolt Brecht's adaptation has been staged at the capital's Army Theatre by director Leon Daniel, one of Bulgaria's promi­nent followers of the Brechtian school of theatrical aesthetics. The actors Ivailo Hristov, Kiril Manev, Vladimir Lyutskanov and Atanas Atanasov participate with great zest in this creatively and originally staged satire. The stage design and costumes are by Nevena Kaval­­djieva, the music is by composer Kiril Donchev. "THE BABYLONIAN TOWER" by Margarit Minkov, a historical play with acute present-day allusions, where elements of tragedy, farce and the grotesque intertwine, has been staged at the 'Suiza y Smyah' Theatre in Sofia, by a guest pro­duction team: Elena Tsinkova - director; Krassimir Vulkanov - stage design and costumes; Mihail Shishkov - music. The cast in­cludes the theatre's youngest ac­tors. ”100 YEARS MORE" is a lyrical comedy by Keva Apostolova pro­duced on the stage of the Dramatic Theatre in the town of Pernik, by guest director Zounka Yankova, artist Elena Boyadjieva, composer Benedict Molhov. The actors Nikolai Avramov and Bourya Pet­­kova take part. "THE EYES - A SUMMER MORN", a dramatic version of Stoyan Zagorchinov's novel A Holiday in Boyana is the produc­tion with which the new Literary Studio Theatre "Vuzrazhdane" opened its second season. THE "DROUZHBA" THEATRE is a newly-founded theatre in the capi­tal which has opened with the comedy General Anaesthesia by Hristo Boichev. Director Simeon Dimitrov, stage design Vesselin Kovachev, music - Benedict Mol­hov. The cast includes actors from many theatres in the capital: Georgi Kaloyanchev, Stoyan Stoev, Bogdan Glishev, Ivan Yan­­chev, Dimiter Elenkov and others.
