Kokas Ignác (1990)
Gábor Eszter Kokas Ignác 1926-ban született Vál községben (Fejér vm.). Először asztalosnak tanul, majd néptanítónak készül. 1947-ben felveszik a Képzőművészeti Főiskolára, ugyanott 1952-ben festődiplomát kap. Azóta önálló festőként dolgozik. „... Kokas Ignácnak az absztrakció határán mozgó festészete tükrözi azt a folyamatot, ahogy a valóságelvű festő az elvonatkoztatásig eljutott. /A képeiből egyre inkább eltűntek az esetlegességek, az irodalmi elemek és megmaradt lényegként a színre és a formák ellentételére épülő kompozíció. A képek zöme eleinte még ábrázolt, mint például a Néma ház, vagy az Elmúlás, de ezeken a képeken sincs már domináns szerepe a motívumnak, a kompozíció, a kép építkezése, a részletek összhangja vagy ellentéte fejezi ki a festő mondanivalóját. Ezektől a képektől már csak egy logikusan következő lépés voit az 1969- ben keletkezett Ginza-puszta III, amelyen a festő már teljesen el is tekintett a motívumok ábrázolásától. A Néma ház és a Ginza-puszta III világát kevés választja el egymástól, festői alapállásuk és gondolatviláguk azonos; ezzel is bizonyítják, hogy a figurativ és nonfiguratív festészet nem két külön világ; a jó, a festőileg megoldott kép akár figurativ, akár nonfiguratív, képes tartalmak és emberi mondanivalók hordozására. Az azonban igaz, hogy verbális megfogalmazásokhoz szokott elménk nagyobb erőfeszítésekre kényszerül, ha a szobán megfogalmazható kapaszkodóktól megfosztják és a festő arra kényszeríti, hogy a festészet sajátos nyelvén próbálja őt megérteni. Fia vállaljuk ezt a többletfigyelmet, az eddiginél tágabban értelmezett valóság megismerése lesz jutalmunk." In 1947, he was admitted to the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts from where he graduated five years later as a painter. "... The art of Ignác Kokas which is on the verge of abstraction reflects the process which took the painter realitybased to abstractions. Eventualities and the literary elements gradually disappear from his paintings to be replaced by the retention of the essence: composition built upon the contrast of colours and forms. In the early stages portrayal characterised the overwhelming majority of his pictures such as the 'Silent House' or 'Passing Away', but the motifs had no longer a predominant role to play in these paintings. What the artist wishes to convey as his message is expressed by the composition of his works: the harmony between or contradiction of the details. Ginza-puszta (Plain) III., the painting dating back to 1969 was just a logical step forward; Kokas discarded portrayal of the motifs completely in it. There is little to distinguish the realm of the 'Silent House'from that of Ginza Plain III. The basic position of the painter and the world of ideas he wishes to express are identical, thus serving evidence that the figurative and nonfigurative (non-objective) painting are no separate domains; a good picture be it figurative ornon-figurative, but made adequately by the artist is capable of conveying substance and human messages. It is true, however, that our minds which are accustomed to verbal formulations, are compelled to make greater efforts if they are deprived of a point to cling to, and the painter forces them to try to understand him through the specific language of painting. If we are prepared to pay this additional attention, knowledge of reality which is interpreted in broader limits than so far will be our benefit..."
