(ë ESZTER, Budapesten születtem 1959-ben. 1984-ben a Magyar Iparművészeti Főiskola textil tanszékének nyomottanyag-tervező szakán diplomáztam. A főiskola befejezése után egy évig a Pamutnyomóipari Vállalatnál voltam textiltervező. 1985-ben az amerikai utam során megismerkedtem az Amish közösség népi iparművészetével. Hatására azóta patchwork technikával készítem faliképeimet. Az utóbbi években festek és tükör faliképeket készítek. A nyomottanyag-tervezésnél, a patchwork munkáimnál és a festményeknél a sík felület, az erős színek és a geometrikus formák vonzanak. Ma már azt mondom surface design, felülettervezés az amit csinálok. I was born in 1959 in Budapest. I graduated from the Printed Textile Department of the Academy of Applied Arts in 1984. After graduation I worked as a designer for a year at the “Pamutnyomóipari Vállalat”, textile factory. In 1985, during my stay in the United States, I got acquainted with the folk art of the Amish community. Inspired by their art I have done textile wallhangings with patchwork technique. Recently I have also been engaged in painting and making sandblasted mirror murals. In my textile designs, paintings and mirror decorations I have been attracted by flat surfaces, bold colours and geometrical forms. At present I would rather call myself a “surface designer”.
