ABOUT THE ENAMEL / SMARTLY Since 1985 - the time when she had appeared at the International Symposion For Enamellers In Kecskemét at first - I have been trying to know Eva Hévizi’s enamel works, but today, ten years later I still must not say, that I would have been able /even superficially/ to get to know her. Whenever one resonates to some inventions of her, she has already changed the colour, the shape, the frame, the materials and so on, the experiences have to begin again. Methodizing minds’ favourite spending of time is, that they cathegorize the artists, together with their results, so they put them into some kind of prefabricated cages. Let them try it with Éva Hévizi.... 1 can guarantee, that they will not succeed. In the 3300 years old history of Enamelling Art there is hardly a precedent for the thing, that even in the direction of the jewellery, - or pot-enamelling such materials would appear as silk, sweet-water snails, or - horribile dictu! - painted feathers. In Éva Hévizi’s activity these kinds of compositional elements are daily guests. Elegance and Inventiveness - may be these two most characteristic features of her. May be of her Art? - some might ask, in vain. Artist and artpiece, at least from this point of view, are an inseparable unity, oneness in her life’s work. If we look at them this way, inmediately a new-coming pair of adjectives appear in our minds. One is as „attractive”, the other is „fragile”. There are a lot of ways to an enamelworkpiece to become attractive. If the irresistably enriched sensual pageantry of the enamel, as material, is not enough, Éva Hévizi additionally creates special funkholes around these quite sensual - yet oddly distant, sometimes translucent, sometimes just naive - beauties, to excite our mystery-solving passion, as if provocating us to eavesdrop the intimities, blissful little secrets of the artpieces. „It is hard not to write satires” Juvenalis, the famous castigator of Roma in the period of the empire, the poet gnashes. „It is hard not to write lyrics” - we might mumble, attracted to so much and such high qualified temptation.
