István Madarassy sculptor, Bildhauer (1996)

Born in 1948 in Budapest. After taking his final examinations he worked as a restorer at the Hungarian National Museum. Graduated from the College of Applied Arts in 1972. Owing to his skill as a craftsman he made different artistic furnishing objects, wall and column designs, ornamental figures, lamps, medals, portrait-skulptures etc. He reconstructed the chandeliers at the Redorte in Budapest, and made stage designs for theatres and the TV. His works can be found in national and foreign collections. At the Dante Biennale in Ravenna, Italy, 1994, he was awarded a golden medal for his plan of "Gate to Hell". He has been the Member of the European Academy of Science and Arts since 1992. Since 1974 he has been a regular participant of individual and group exhibitions at home and abroad.
