Dr. Szili Katalinnak, az Országgyűlés flnök asszonyának bevezető gondolatai “A megtalált furópa ' című kiadványhoz Európa eredetének legendája sok művészi köztük Rembrandtot, Veroneset és Márai Sándort is megihlette már a történelem során. Európa, a föníciai királylány mítosza nemcsak egy szép történet a kontinens nevének születéséről, hanem az európai civilizáció gyökereit jelenti. A Magyar Országgyűlés ajándéka az furópai Parlamentnek ezt a legendát kívánja életre kelteni. '’A megtalált Európa" nevet viselő szobor felavatásával beköltözik tehát a mítosz az Európai Parlamentbe. A mítosz, amely mindannyiunk közös gyökereihez vezet vissza, és a szobor, amely mindannyiunk találkozóhelye lehet a nemzetek és nyelvek európai forgatagában. Az Európai Unió 2004-es kibővítésével megszűnt a kontinens egyik felének jelképes ''száműzetése“ és valóban visszatértünk Európába. A “Megtalált Európa" szimbolikusan hazánk furópai Unióhoz történő csatlakozásának történelmi eseményére is utal. Magyarország csatlakozásának alkalmából a Magyar Országgyűlés annak reményében ajándékoz szobrot az furópai Parlamentnek, hogy az a jövőben minél több európai nemzet visszatérésének jelképéül is szolgálhat majd. Introductory note to the publication "iurope rediscovered’' by Dr. Katalin Szili, speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly The legend of Europe's origin inspired many artists including Rembrandt, Veronese and Sándor Márai - in the course of human history. The myth of furope, princess of Phoenicia is not simply a story about the birth of the name for our continent, but springs from the very heart of the European civilization. The present of the Hungarian National Assembly to the furopean Parliament is aiming to revive that legend. By inaugurating the statue “Europe rediscovered“ the myth moves in to the European Parliament, the myth that brings us back to where we all came from and the statue that would serve as a meeting point for all of us in the swirl of European nations and languages. With the 2004 enlargement of the European Union symbolic exile of half of the continent ceased to exist and we finally returned to Europe. “Europe rediscovered“ allegorically refers to the historic opportunity presented to us by acceding to the European Union. On the occasion of Hungary's accession, the Hungarian National Assembly is proud to present this statue to the European Parliament, hoping that it will serve as an emblem for more and more European nations “rediscovered“.
