Consultations at Gödöllő on the Technological Development of Agriculture Now for the second decade, the yearly consultation ofagro technical specialists on research and devel­opment has been organized again at Gödöllő in mid-January. Year after year, hundreds of specialists are taking part at the consultation to their colleagues speaking up in the various sections. President of Gödöllő University, Dr. Károly Kocsis outlined the history of GATE from 1920 to our days, highlighting the milestones of the University's history. Dean of the faculty of Mechanical Engineers, Dr. Attila Vas commemorated the 45 years of independent training of agro-mechanical engineers. Minister of Agriculture Dr. László Lakos was the principal lecturer of the plenary session. In his lecture, the Minister discussed timely issues of agrarian policy. Modernisation, quality, conservation of the envi­ronment, production and cost efficiency were the keywords of his lecture. The "technical part" of the Consultations was continued in sections for two days. 74 lectures were deliv­ered in eight sections altogether. In addition to the posters prepared from the lectures, 104 posters were devoted to the presentation of researchers and developers of altogether 41 institutions, including 55 for­eign ones from 9 countries. The Honourable Doctor’s Degree (doctor honoris causa) of the Science of Agriculture has been conferred on September 10, 1994, by the Pannon University of Agriculture upon dr. János Dohy university professor, institute director, correspondent member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Dean of the Scientific Post-graduate Training Institute (Gödöllő University of Agricultural Science), in apprecia­tion of his internationally recognized scientific achievements in animal-breeding researches, his high-level cooperations in education, post-graduate training and researches with the Georgikon Department of Agri­cultural Science in the field of animal husbandry.
