ECBO The European Cell Biology Organization was originally founded in 1969 as a Foundation and re-established in 1978 as Federation of European Societies for Cell Biology. So far it consists of the Belgian, British, Dutch, French, German, Israeli, Nordic, Romanian and Spanish Societies for Cell Biology, the Austrian Biochemical Society-Cell Biology Group, the Hellenic Society for Biological Sciences, the Hungarian Group for Cell Biology, the Italian Association of Cell Biology and Differentiation, the Cell Biology Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and the Swiss Society of Cell and Molecular Biology. Additional national societies have also applied for membership. ECBO is the member of the International Federation for Cell Biology, while the European Study Group for Cell Proliferation, the European Tissue Culture Society (ETCS), the Federation of the European Biochemical Societies (FEBS) and the International Cell Research Organization (ICRO) are associated members of ECBO. HGCB The Hungarian Group for Cell Biology was established in 1974 as a member of the Hungarian Biological Society. It has more than 200 members and its president is Gy. Rappay.
