1959 / 1. szám - Riskó, T.: The Significance of Radiological Changes in the Knee Joint in Tuberculous Coxitis in Childhood

T. RISKÓ revealed in the right knee joint an epiphysis normal for her age, -whereas in the left knee osseous epiphyseal fusion (Fig. 1). In their study of 90 patients with 91 diseased hip joints, with a history dating back from 4 months to 22 years, Parke et al., recognizing the important role played by the epiphysis of the knee joint, sought for early radiological changes indicative of premature epiphyseal fusion in that joint, apart from examining the course of coxitis itself. As a result of this study they pointed out diffuse atrophy, tenderness and a flameshaped transparency in the epiphysis of the knee joint as the early signs. If immobilization is continued in such cases, as a result of the absorption of the spongiosa, the epiphyseal lamellae rupture and the epiphy- ing. 1. Radiological appearance of the knee joints of W.
