Description of a new genus and species of the family Encyrtidae (Hymenoptera, Chalcid.). (With 1 text-figure) By Dr. 3. Erdős Placoceras gen. nov. The supposed new genus of the family Encyrtidae is similar to genus C er apter ocerus W e s t w. in having the antennae enormously flattened and enlarged as in Cerapterocerus West w., or Eusemion Dahlb., but easily distinguishable from both of them in having the ovipositor exserted one-third the length of the abdomen. In the same character differs from Chrysoplatycerus Ash m., Anicetus H o w. and Cerapteroceroides A s h m. The genus Paracerapterocerus G i r a u 11 stands, with respect to the ovipositor extruded, very near the present new genus, but differs by non-metallic body. Type: Placoceras colocense spec. nov. 9, — Head (fig. c, e) scarcely broader than the thorax; vertex not distinct: from occipital margin to line of the eyes regularly arched, in side view its greatest breadth is above the antennae; the middle of the face not impressed, finely transversely shagreened, beneath in a third distance the length of the eye strongly conically prominent, between this two tubercles abruptly excavated, the antennae inserted in the excavation; clypeus not distinct. The mandibles are feeble, bidentate, the exterior tooth larger, brown-yellowish, slightly darker at apex. Maxillary palpi biarticulate, white. The eyes ovate, naked; the eyelets reddish, very Fig. 1. Placoceras colocense spec. nov. t$ a = antenna from below, foal, c = head from front, d = forewing, e = head from side with the mandible and with the base of antenna. (Magnifying 40 times).
