Szabó Gábor szobrász (1989)
Szabó Gábor 1940-ben született Budapesten, művészcsaládban. Apja Szabó Iván szobrászművész. 1954-58 művészeti gimnázium. 1958-63 Magyar Képzőművészeti Főiskola. Mesterei voltak Martsa István és Mikus Sándor, de tanította Kmetty János és Barcsay Jenő is. 1962 óta vesz részt országos kiállításokon. Csinál kisplasztikát, érmet és köztéri szobrokat, foglalkozik művészetoktatással is. A Fiatal Művészek Stúdiójának 1967-71 között vezetőségi tagja volt, és egyik alapítója és szervezője az első szobrászszimpóziumnak Siklós- Villányban. Részt vett a nyíregyházasóstói nemzetközi érmészszimpóziumokon, 77-78-ban, ahol 1977-ben a városi tanács díját kapta, és Riga-Dzintariban, nemzetközi szobrászszimpóziumon 1979-ben és 87-ben. 1971-74 között Derkovits-, 1985-86-ban SZOT-, 1985-ben római ösztöndíjas Fontosabb csoportkiállítások: Szófia, Varsó, Moszkva, Riga, Berlin, Oslo, Stockholm, Offenborg, Firenze, Róma, Torontó és Colorado Springs. Munkák közgyűjteményekben: Állami Múzeum Riga, Királyi Éremtár Stockholm, Nemzeti Múzeum Koppenhága, Anderson Múzeum Odense, Eremmúzeum Mihajlovgrád. His father, Iván Szabó is a sculptor. After attending the Budapest High School of Arts, enrolled at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts. His masters included István Martsa, Sándor Mikus, János Kmetty and Jenő Barcsay. Since 1962 his works have been on display at several national exhibitions. He makes small sculptures, medals, statues for public places and teaches art. From 1967 to 1971 he was one of the initiators and organisers of the first ever Hungarian sculptors' symposium held in Siklós-Villány, southern Hungary. He attended the International Medal Artists' Symposium staged at Nyíregyháza- Sóstó, Hungary in 1977 and 1978, and the International Sculptors' Symposium held in Riga-Dzintari, Latvia in 1979 and 1987. In 1977, he was awarded the prize of Nyíregyháza-Sóstó, the city hosting the Symposium of Medal Artists. Between 1971 and 1974 he was the holder of the Derkovits scholarship; in 1985 he was awarded a scholarship that took him to Rome, and the scholarship of the Central Council of Hungarian Trade Unions in two successive years: 1985 and 1986. Sein Vater ist der Bildhauer Iván Szabó. Besuchte zwischen 1954 und 1958 das Kunstgymnasium bzw. studierte von 1958 bis 1963 an der Ungarischen Hochschule der bildenden Kunst. Seine Meister waren István Martsa und Sándor Mikus, lernte aber auch bei János Kmetty und Jenő Barcsay. Beteiligt sich seit 1962 an den Landesausstellungen, fertigt Kleinplastiken, Medaillen und öffentliche Skulpturen und beschäftigt sich auch mit Kunstunterricht. Mitglied des Vorstands des Studios der Jungen Künstler zwischen 1967 und 1971, und einer der Begründer und Organisatoren des ersten Bildhauer- Symposions in Siklós-Villány. Nahm teil 1977 und 1978 an den Internationalen Medaillen-Symposien in Nyíregyháza- Sóstó und erhielt 1977 den Preis des Stadtrats, und erschien 1979 und 1987 an den Internationalen Bildhauer-Symposien in Riga-Dzintari. Von 1971 bis 1974 Derkovits-Stipendiar, zwischen 1985 und 1986 SZOT(Gewerkschaftsbund-) Stipendiar, und 1985 Stipendiar in Rom.
