A Százados úti művésztelep (1998)
Korábban a szomszédos telken fatelep, kőszobrász- majd gipszműhely könnyítette meg a szobrászok munkáját. Itt mintázta Medgyessy a Párizsi Világkiállításon aranyérmet nyert, ma a debreceni Déry Múzeum előtt látható négy allegorikus figuráját, itt készültek szobrok a Milleneumi emlékműhöz és az Operaházhoz, majd így hozta a történelem a Népstadionhoz és a Metróba, de az itteni rózsabokrok alatt nyugszik a Sztálin szobor gipszmodellje is. Az első nagyobb nemzedékváltást is a második világháború hozta, ez után érkeztek a telepre a Római ösztöndíjas szobrászok. Ma, a több generáció együttélése folyamatában, már a negyedik nemzedék kezdi el és folytatja művészi pályáját a telep műtermeiben. A Százados úti Művésztelepnek jubileumi retrospektív kiállítása volt 1965-ben a Magyar Nemzeti Galériában, 1996-ban, a nyolcvanéves évforduló alkalmából, a Józsefvárosi Galéria adott helyet az itt alkotóknak. 1998-ban "Salgótarjánban a Józsefváros" címmel a Tarjáni Tavaszi Fesztiválon megrendezett kiállításon a ma alkotók mellett néhány korábban itt élt művész munkája is szerepelt. 1997-ben alakult meg a Százados úti Művésztelep Egyesület, 1998 májusában szabadtéri kiállítás lesz a telepen, ősszel a Pataky Művelődési Központ lesz a helyszíne The idea of an artists' settlement - the very first in Budapest - came from two sculptors, Ede Kallós (the sculptor of Vörösmarty monument) and Géza Horváth. It was accepted and the colony had been built between 1909 and 1911 by István Bárczy, the Mayor of the Capital. The pavilions - studios and homes - are situated in a huge garden at the edge of the eighth district of Budapest, called Józsefváros. Kurucz, to mention just a few names from the list. Statues for the Milleneum Monument and to the Opera House had been made here, even - as history changes - the Stalin monument, as well. Today about forty artists work and live here with their families. They rent the pavilions from the District Council after a special committee of the Creative Artists' Foundation approved their applications. The Százados street Artist Colony Union was founded in 1997.
