CONTENTS Mrs. Vörös Dr. E. Faragó: Relation of the amount of some trace elements in piir iron to the properties of cast iron................................................ I’ 121 Effects of thin, antimony and aluminium were -investigated in five foundry pig irons of various origins. The properties of cast irons made from them having about the same compositions and degrees of saturation of about 0,90/0,95 vary under the influence of the same amounts of tin, antimony and aluminium in dependence of the original content of trace elements in the pig iron. The higher the original trace element content, the more the properties of cast iron vary. The results of the investigation indicate tha the varying properties of pig irons of various origins having the same compositions (C, Si, Mn, S, P) are due to trace elements. These effects are manifested also in the cast iron. •/. Vereskői—L. Tóth: Relation of volume changes during solidification of cast iron to some characteristics of crystallization ..............................P 12f> The properties of castings depend on several factors, however, they develop finally in the course of solidification. At this stage the casting takes its final shape and the shrinkage porosity and sink hole develop. Therefore the authors found necessary to investigate the solidification processes of cast irons produced from different pig irons and the change of volume during solidification. S. Hajas: Effect of iron contamination on the mechanical properties of aluminium casting alloys ................................................................ P 1H1 The iron contamination is of deleterious effect both in ÖAlSilOMg and 0AlCu4Ti alloys. In the. production of high quality castings care should be taken in preparing and meltting the charge to, prevent the iron contamination entering the melt.
