SZABÓ University of Pécs, Faculty of Medicine, Dental School POSSIBILITY OF TOOTH SHADE DETERMINATION IN PROSTHETIC DENTISTRY The increase of aesthetic demand has been characteristic feature of nowadays dentistry. This leaves its mark on every fields of dentistry and has become one of the main question of denture fabricating. The particular tooth shade determination is the base of aesthetic dentistry. There are two main types of tooth shade determination. The traditional one is the subjective determination using conventional tooth shade tabs. The other is the objective one using electric or digital methods. We have been started in our clinic a comparative examination of the two method’s results. We have used the VITA 3D Master tooth shade tabs and the VITA EasyShade digital machine. First of all we have examined the applicability of tabs on selected patient group. The results were compered with shades given by VITA EasyShade. In the second step we have determined the shade of newly fabricated metal-ceramic crowns and bridges. The shade of completed restorations were documented using objective and subjective methods. The newly developed 3D Master tooth shade tabs of VITA has a great leap forward determination teeth natural shade of fixed and removable prosthesis. But the best results were given by using the EasyShade. DR. P. MARCIN, DR. M. PALLÓS University of Pécs, Faculty of Medicine, Dental School SPLINTS THERAPY AS PREPROSTHODONTIC TREATMENT Introduction: Setting of centric relation is one of the steps of prosthodontic treatment. Goal of teeth restaurations is to reach ideal-close relation of maxilla and mandibule. The disgnath bite may be a problematic point in estimating centric relation. Using acrylic splints helps the treatment. However the question rises: is it necessary to estabilish the ideal centric relation in every cases. The authors of this presentation try to solve that. Materials and methods: Applying acrylic splints with partially toothmissing patients gives chance to estimate neuromuscular balance in masticatory system. The acrylic splints which we use take the advantage of the Michigan splint. The changes of the vertical and horizontal dimension and their tolerance predict the permanent prosthodontic treatment. Results: The splint therapy on the one hand makes the treatment longer and perhaps in some cases more complicated, on the other hand stable and patient-checked occlusion is a very important part of successful prosthodontic rehabilitation. RhBMP-2 can be produced by human recombinant technique and recognized as an osseoinductive and regulator protein. BMP-2 is a dimeric molecule consisting of two 114-peptides subunits. Regarding osseogenesis, in optimum concentration it can enhance ossification and improve the quality of newly formed bone as well. Our aim was to study the efficacy of rhBMP-2 solution on osseogenesis. Materials and methods: The rhBMP-2 solution was examined by in vivo animal experiments. In the animal model a 3.3 mm diameter bone wound was prepared in the proximal third of the rabbit femur. In the test femur rhBMP-2 solution in concentration of 90 pi rhBMP-2/ml was placed into the bone wound assuming that it is an ideal concentration for our purpose. In the control femur the same amount of sterile buffered physiological solution was inserted. After 4 weeks of healing period the bone specimens were taken out at the site of the drilled hole. The specimens were embedded and cut using the Exact cutting and grinding system, without any décalcification. Results: The measure of osseogenesis was evaluated by histomorphometry. Our results proved that the ossification of the rhBMP-2 treated bone wound was significantly enlarged as compared to the control bone. DR. B. MOLNÁR,1'2 DR. K. KÁDÁR,2 DR. G. VARGA,2 DR. I. Novel data which opened the field for the clinical application of stem cells have been published recently. Adult stem cells were found in the periodontal ligament (Periodontal Ligament Stem Cells-PDLSC) and pulp tissue of permanent teeth (Dental Pulp Derived Stem Cells-DPSC) as well as in the pulp tissue of deciduous teeth (Stem cells from Human Exfoliated Deciduous teeth-SHED). According to the latest results PDLSCs, combined with a hydroxyapatite/tricalcium phosphate (HA/TCP) ceramic powder, were able to regenerate periodontal defects in immunocompromised mice. These results suggest that
