Gruber Béla festőművész emlékkiállítása (Pataky Galéria, Budapest, 1986)

He was born in Budapest on February 23, 1936 as a twin. In 1945 his father died. In 1946 the National Relief sent him to Halas. In 1949 he attended with his twin sister the Agricultural Technical School. At the end of the first year he left the school. In October of 1952 he took up a job in the Óbuda shipyard where eventually got in the decorationing department. Meanwhile he made paintings and drawings diligently. He passed the entrance examination to the Academy of Fine Arts for the second time. He studied there under János Kmetty and Aurél Bernáth. Fie used to spend the summertimes in workshops in Füzesgyarmat and Hódmezővásárhely. He was received into the Art Foundation of Hungarian People’s Republic in 1962. In November, 1962 he fell ill with selfdestroying painting and got in hospital then sanatorium. He died on September 29, 1963.
